On the occasion of World Water Day 2025, various sections of the Italian Alpine Club organized events in the area to raise awareness of the importance of the water resource. Here is a summary of the initiatives they communicated to the secretariat:

CAI Abruzzo

His 2025: Glacier Preservation. The event highlights the consequences of accelerated glacier melting, with particular attention to the sustainable management of water resources and the effects on climate change.

CAI Calco

On March 22, 2025, monitoring of the sources of Monte di Brianza will take place. The initiative is part of the CAI Participatory Science project, dedicated to the identification, classification and monitoring of water sources in Italy.

CAI Colleferro

“Progetto Acqua Sorgente – Monti Lepini” event, which will be held in Carpineto Romano at the Leone XIII Study Center Auditorium. The day includes interventions on the characteristics of spring water and a demonstration excursion to Pian della Faggeta near the Acquicciola spring.

CAI Domodossola

Meeting on “Traditional water management: from African wells to the Ossola cisterns”, with the intervention of Alberto Zorloni and the presentation of the “Acqua Sorgente” project by Sauro Zani, president of the CAI Domodossola section.

CAI Stop

“Tour of the sources” in the Sibillini Mountains, with an excursion that involves monitoring various sources along the route. The event will end with a lunch at the Altino refuge.

CAI Lagonegro

Excursion to the “Sorgente del Noce” (Fontana del Tasso) in the Lucanian Apennines National Park Val d’Agri – Lagonegrese. The route includes a hike of approximately 10 km with monitoring of water sources.

CAI Sampierdarena

Meeting with elementary schools for a conference entitled “The water cycle” by Prof. Claudio Vanzo, involving two classes of the “Emilio Salgari” Elementary School.

CAI Verbicaro

Event entitled “Nothing is more extraordinary than water”, with interventions on issues relating to the availability and responsible consumption of water resources, with contributions from local experts and representatives of institutions.
